I read the first book just thinking I needed a different outlet for my brain. I love Nora’s books so I knew it would be good. What I didn’t know is it would grab me and hold me captive for hours and hours!! Could not put it down.
The second book, Rising Tides, started off about as slow and thoughtful as Ethan himself. I enjoyed getting to know him and seeing everyone else navigate around him.
When Grace became a vocal part of his life,Ethan came to life in the most unexpected way. I just finished this book in tears, but some of those tears were not because of what happened in the book , tad they were because the book was ending.
Something this beautiful should not end.
Now for the next book and I just hope I can wait until I am not driving to download!!

I have 7 sons. I gave birth to 5 of them, and I adopted 2 of them. Brotherhood does not require blood relation. Nora Roberts understands brothers and their interactions. Her characters make laugh, they make me cry, they touch me on many levels.
I have enjoyed many books by this author. This one felt sluggish, like a car with a bad engine. Also, the author used so many flashbacks I got confused what happened to which generation. I did enjoy learning more about segregation in Louisiana though.
This series is the best of Nora Roberts. Funny, sad and uplifting! The characters make you wish they lived next door, and the prose makes you think that you do! Great stories, can't wait to read the next book!
I have become a huge Emilie Richards fan. Her characters, and the way she introduces them to us, are complex and unconventional. None of the women in this book is a traditional heroine. They are all flawed and perhaps not people we would identify with, but we come to care about them nonetheless. The ending is unexpected yet fulfilling. You'll enjoy this.
Even if you are not a fan of romance fiction, you are going to be pleasantly surprised by Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay series. I read the third book first, and couldn't wait to purchase the other three. In these books, Roberts captures the intricate problems involved in human relationships. The characters are pleasantly flawed, just as they are in real life, with understandable challenges along the way. The writing is good, the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat, and, most important of all, you won't get bored. When you order your first one, be prepared to cancel a few appointments and put some other things on hold because you are going to be reading well into the night. Five stars for this one.

I'm a Nora Roberts fan so that makes me partial to all her books. Marrying a Quinn of my own, who also taught English and Literature for 20 years, may also be making this series more personally satisfying for me. But, in the genre of "Romance", most serious readers know that if we want to invest our $7.50 wisely for entertaining and compelling stories, Ms. Roberts is always a great value. Thoroughly enjoyed the first in this series, but loved Rising Rising Tides probably a little more because of Ethan and Grace. The struggles of these two very real characters will have a way of touching every reader's own reality bank just enough to make them uncomfortable. No matter what the cause of the fears we struggle to overome, if for no other reason, this book reinforces the importance of winning our own personal battles. When we cop-out or wear those convenient "denial" glasses, in the end we are such huge losers. Can't wait for Phil's story in "In! ner Harbor", and for what I'm sure will be a very satisfying ending to this particularly enjoyable series. Love you Nora!
Deeply complex, this story was difficult to read for two reasons A larger-than-expected cast of characters and the movement into the past and back to the present.

I understand why the author did so. Much of the backstory informs both the reasons why the deceased person's will is read as it is--in bits and pieces over four days--and how the receivers of that information react to that information.

More enjoyable was the beautifully detailed setting and the weather that ultimately contributes to the death of one of the least likable characters. And, as with her other titles, the author's unfolding umbrella of human relationships in myriad ways and with unexpected results truly sings.
