I enjoyed the author's style a lot, and the story was very well-told. I just felt there should've been more leading up to the character's discovery (I won't say what because I don't want to give it away). I would have liked to have had some inkling earlier as to where things were going. In retrospect, I know the author tried to "clue" us in, but I don't think that worked very well.

But I enjoyed the writing itself and would definitely read another book by this same author.

Kristopher Kelly has a talent... A talent for clutching your mind by forceful, horrific means. He creates a compassion for characters and then tosses your mind into a wood chipper that is taking a vacation in a whirlwind of urgency. With Abraham Road, Kelly's word flow keeps the digital pages flipping at a furious pace. The tale captures your emotions quickly and often. A well written gem, indeed.
I don't normally read books such as this one but I actually enjoyed it. Strange & exciting & quite unpredictable. I'll be sure to checkout more by Mr. Kelly.

This was such a vivid original story! I was messing around and it was really late at night but I decided to read a few pages of this book before turning the lights off. Well that made the next day drag a bit because when I started it at 10 that night I did not stop until I read the last word. I hated the damn book, because it ended. Rocking story Mr. Kelly. I sure hope you put out another book soon. Your ending was so well played, not very often writers nail endings like that. Usually you are left feeling let down or a bit depressed because the book was good all the way through until the bad closing. Make a movie of this book! Awesome . . .
I read "Abraham Road" in under two hours and couldn't put it down. Mr. Kelly writes vividly with distinct personality; it was very easy to get into the characters and settings. Though flawed, he manages to avoid annoying character habits that tend to pervade and bog down a lot of the horror genre in this day and age. In other words, while the characters aren't genuises (in fact they're wholly believable seemingly average individuals), they don't make highly stupid decisions that make you scream "Why would you do that!?". I enjoyed this book more than any short story i've read by Stephen King in the last 20 years (save, maybe, "the Boogeyman") and greatly look forward to more in the future.
This piece of work is amazing in so many ways. Mr. Kelly has succeeded in creating a piece of fiction that truly is impossible to put down. The characters all have a cohesive voice and are all well developed. I particularly enjoyed the way Kris tied things together in the end. Very much a surprise ending, and one that I can tell from the foreshadowing was entirely planned and intentional. Can't wait for future releases where these characters are utilized again, I think this story lends itself particularly well to a prequel. We are witnessing the birth of a future master of horror genre. If I have one criticism, I wish it were longer. Can't wait for my second read through.
Once I started reading "Abraham Road" I could not stop. I can't believe this book was free! Mr. Kelly has created a great setting with very memorable lore which I hope leads to a series of books. His characters are vivid, deliciously flawed, and you will root for them. The story moves at lightening speed, no dull or self-indulgent moments here. With surprise after surprise, Kelly pulls you into the brothers' journey quickly with enough gore to satisfy the Clive Barker fans and enough psychological thrills to satisfy the Stephen King fans. It is very visual which could make a great translation to the screen. I can't wait for his next book. Keep your eyes out for Kristopher Kelly!
